Toshiba TB25 LMP Bulb Replacement

By Dangazzm

When the rear projection goes out on your TB25 enabled rear projection television you will know it. The television will be on but there will not be any screen displayed. This usually doesn't occur but every 4 years. However, most people won't know what to do once it finally does go out and that is what I will be trying to help you with. Keep in mind the the TB25 LMP is basically just an ordinary light bulb so in order to find out if it went out or not you will need to remove it and shake it just like a light bulb and listen for a rattling sound. If it is rattling then you all you need to do is replace the bulb itself and not the housing. Simply replacing the housing is the cheapest method but will take a little more time to disassemble the housing and reassemble it.

Supplies You Will Need

You will only need a couple supplies to get the TB25 LMP housing out of your television and disassemble it:

  • Philips Head Screw Driver
  • Pair Of Pliers
  • Your Brand New Lamp
  • Latex Gloves, just in case your old lamp is really dirty.

Finding The TB25 LMP

Most of the time in rear projection televisions you can find the TB25 LMP in the back near the top. So if you have you television on a entertainment stand you will probably want to take it down before you go searching around for the TB25 LMP housing unit. You will know what you find the housing unit because it will slide out, possibly with a screw or two, and is a square shape.

Keep in mind that some models will have the housing unit a little more towards the middle so keep an eye out when trying to locate it.

Replacing the TB25 LMP

Once you have the housing unit out of the television then you will want to replace the old bulb with the new one. That is if you bought only the bulb and not a new housing unit, either way is fine but just the bulb is cheaper.

This is the part that i recommend using gloves for as when you open the housing unit it could get kinda dusty and dirty.

In order to take apart the housing unit you will see your plastic looking face area that attaches to the rear container part of the unit. That needs to be unscrewed with your philips head screwdriver and pulled apart.

Once that is done you will notice that the bulb itself is screwed in with a couple of screws so unscrew them, then place your new bulb in and re-screw those back in. This can get kinda tricks if you don't have good lighting so get a flashlight if you need it!

Then putting the housing unit all back together is a snap, just make sure you use up all the screws. If you need a visual depiction below there is a video that shows the entire process.
