Samsung F490

By

The Samsung F490 upon initial release was labeled as an iphone wannabe, but the fact is that they aren't really that comparable. Sure it kinda looks like the iPhone to a certain extent but the features are very much different. One of the major drawbacks to this phone in being the iPhone competitor that many people think it is, would be its functionality. While the Samsung F490 is a good phone it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the iPhone has, making it A poor competitor for business and even for playing games.

With lack of Java support on this phone you will not be able to run programs outside of what Samsung lets you download from their applications menu, and you will have to pay A steep price for them compared to the iPhone apps store. All in all, its a good phone if you don't expect as much as you would of an iPhone so don't get your hopes up too much.

Samsung F490 Review

The Samsung F490 is an alright phone, and doesn't have anything quite spectacular. Wow factor for this phone is limited to only its touch screen, which feels rather clunky at that. Touch screen sensitivity is a big issue with this phone as it doesn't really feel all that great, once you get past the fact that it IS a touch screen you will be disappointed with both the sensitivity and the accuracy of it.

The Samsung F490 also lacks A great app selection, unlike the iPhone so don't expect to get some fun free applications onto it from the internet they seem to not like that on this phone. With the lack of Java on this phone you will not be able to surf the web for free games for the Samsung F490 and find ANY at all, which is quite disappointing for me. I wish this phone was more of an entertainment device rather than simply a phone.

Out of the box the Samsung F490 is a good phone, but is quite annoying at first. The screen locks you out of touch commands in an attempt to prevent you from accidentally pressing buttons when in a call and after it goes to sleep mode. This is kind of a cop out in my opinion from actually adding a good touch screen which recognizes bumps and brushes to the screen from an actually touch.

All in all, if you get it cheap there isn't anything to complain about its a nice looking phone and it works so a long time. However, if you are looking for a long term phone that you will be able to play a game or two on, without paying an arm and a leg for it, this isn't your phone and you should try something with Java support.
