Quest For A Different MMORPG, Finding A Unique MMO
75I decided I want to quit World of Warcraft for the sake of a different game that me and my friends can all play kind of like how we used to in WoW. The reason for this is that I am pissed at it, there is no need for another expansion pack already and yet they announced it. I understand hype and that it won't be out for a long time but still it is the principle of the fact that they should have good content to add before making another expansion. New races is about the only new thing that even slightly catches my interest and lets face it, who cares about their race THAT much anyways? Its a cheap way to make an excuse for an expansion in my opinion.
Anyways back to the main topic, I am looking for a good MMO experience that me and my other 2 friends are able to play together. I hate it many of the games either have too much need for teaming up or NO need whatsoever and some just aren't fun. By the way we are all hard core PvPers and want it in this new game.
Criteria
The following criteria is for what we want in a MMORPG so that we are able to judge games that we find based off of.
- Quality PvP, competition in this is a plus
- Not needing to purchase brand new computers is a plus.
- Gameplay over graphics.
- Team play awarded, not penalized. Team play also not REQUIRED either.
- Free is a plus, willing to pay up to $15 a month just like WoW.
Aion
First game I looked at was Aion online. This is a fantastic looking game and I think I already found a winner. However with the price for the game being $50 and then a $15 a month fee, yes yes it is just like WoW. I think I'm going to hold off on actually trying it. Although from what I heard and watch on YouTube it is fantastic! Great fighting system fantastic chracter flight system with beautiful graphics. The only problem with the graphics is that I think I may need A new computer if I really want to play as it is recommended with windows Vista to have 2 gig of RAM, DAMN YOU VISTA!
One of the biggest things that attracted me was warring factions. Of course this is just like WoW don't remind me. Although it has the same formula that WoW started with it is headed way more for the amazing player experience. Having a good time and actually being able to enjoy sites is going to be great. Also teaming up is supposed to be a added bonus for killing tougher monsters making level a lot quicker, although I wouldn't be able to confirm this. That is the perfect blend of team based game play I am looking for! I want to have it viable to level up solo when no one is online however the ability to group up and just have some fun!
Overall I can't wait to try this game out but don't really want to sink the full price into it just to try it out. Maybe they will come out with a trial system sooner rather than later?
Champions Online
Champions online looks just as good and fun as Aion. Although they are two completely different games. I am not a huge comic book fan although I can appreciate the fact that you create an entirely unique hero as an icon, or beacon of hope for the civilians of *blank* town sounds tempting. With a seemingly endless supply of customizations that you can choose from along with all of the different powers. Did I mention you can even customize the powers? Such as choosing if you shoot beams of energy out of your chest, mouth, right hand, left hand ETC.? Not only that you can choose all of the colors for your energy beams, armor, skin, hair. I would pay money just to play around with this hero editor that they have without actually playing the game! The game itself is appealing too however such as the action based combat which is able to be mapped to a controller very easily they claim. This would be very fun to have an action packed MMO with hordes of enemies and a controller in your hand. Something about a controller says fast reflexes and leisurely game play to me. The graphics even look like they are straight out of a comic book gone 3-D.
This game seems to have everything I am interested in also! Argh, although the limited time $199 lifetime subscription is tempting I think I am going to hold off and try to decide if I am going to try Aion or Champions Online First. They are both releasing within a few days so I need to decide quick!
Fiesta Online
Fiesta online isn't quite as new and exciting as some of the other MMO's but it has been around and is free to play so I thought I would check it out. They have a lot of the same mechanics that resemble WoW, however it still is something new and for the price of free you can't beat that. It is worth at least checking it out. I am still playing it right now!
Check Back Later!
As I discover and look up more games for the quest to find the next best MMO I will update this HUB. Make sure to check back in a couple of days as I will hopefully have made some progress by then! Also if you have a suggestion please make a quick comment and I will try out any game suggested!

Try Uncharted Waters Online...truly unique, playing with ships and all.
If your going to try ships, pirates of the burning sea is the game.
