How to Get Rid of Ants at Home
65Whether you have discovered that there are ants in your kitchen, bathroom, or basement they are rather harmless but pain in the butt pests that you definitely want to get rid of. Don't worry though this is not going to be an expensive procedure as there are plenty of things that you probably have already at home that you can use to get rid of them quickly and easily.
At Home Ant Removal Techinques
First and quite possibly the most effective way to get rid of ants is to use white vinegar all you have to do is spread the white vinegar in the areas where the ants mostly congregate around which can be around your food or if you have an opening in the basement that they are getting into you should put it there so that they don't even want to come into your home. Not only will they not want to even enter into your home but they will also die if they inhale the fumes from the vinegar so it works as a preventative measure and a way to get rid of them if they already in your home.
If you cannot stand the fumes from the vinegar yourself then you can also place pieces of cucumber around the area where the ants like to scrounge for food. Ants really hate the taste of cucumber so placing small pieces around the entrance to your home and in other various corners of your rooms, they will get a taste and want to leave your premises posthaste.
If neither of those work for you whether it be that you can't stand the smell of vinegar or you don't want to chance leaving small bits of cucumber around your house then you can also take an spray soapy water at the entry points as well is in cabinets and other areas. Since soap is rather harmless and won't cause any real harm to you can actually use this around your food as well. The ants will really not like soapy water areas and will look for another place to dwell.
If you can find the nest of ants around your house or outside your house near where they are entering then there is another solution to your problem. You can take chili powder and spread it all around and inside the hive, this will kill most if not all of them quickly and the others will not want to be anywhere near you or your home ever again.
If You Have a Serious Ant Infestation and Need Help
There are options if you have a serious ant infestation and the above home remedies just won't do the trick. There are liquid and killers that you simply open the pack leave them why the area where the ants mostly congregate around and they cannot resist the smell of this bait. They will enter the trap looking for food and only find poison. In a single trap you can get a good 50 to 100 of them trapped in their if you have that many ants infesting the area. The best liquid ant killer that I have found is Terro 300 and it is surprisingly cheap on Amazon as shown below. It works great, and the 6 pack should be enough for any ants you have lurking in your home.
If None of the Above Work
If everything seems to fail and they won't stop coming back I'm sorry to say but you may need professional assistance to get them all out and keep them out. Ants aren't too hard to keep out of your house as long as you know what to look for and that's exactly what calling a professional will do they will know exactly what to look for and where to look for it to find the entry point of the ants and give you information on how to keep them out permanently.
