Before starting a fast, you must know what a fast does. First it will slow down your metabolism, the act of fasting will not cause you to loose weight. It does however beat your addiction to many of your favorite bad for you foods. A successful fast will build momentum and cause you to build a brand new lifestyle. These lifestyle changes can be bad and good, some people go back to their old life and overindulge. This can give most people a sense of failure which is unnecessary but happens people are emotionally driven. This emotional feeling of failure is followed by the feeling that you cannot loose weight and never will.

A successful fast will do the opposite and motive for a permanent lifestyle change which will yield great weight loss and overall healthy body. Remember a healthy body is a happy you! So you will be a lot happier when you do accomplish all of your goals.

Now that you know what fasting can and cannot do for you, you can make a sound decision on if this is something that you desire. There is no room for half doing a fast, it just doesn't work.

And as always when starting a new diet regimen you SHOULD consult a doctor before starting. If there are any abnormalities with how you feel or anything you should consult a doctor also.

Basic Fasting

Anything about fasting can be tailored to how disciplined you are and basically just who you are. There are different times which a fast can be taken in, for example a yearly fast for 7 days or maybe 2 days a week. Again you do what you want pretty much but make it challenging because the goal is to gain will power but not to discourage you by making it too difficult.

If you are doing a 2 day fast perhaps you would start the night before eating only fruits and vegetables, then the next day only drink water. On your final day eat a nice fruit breakfast and water intake throughout the day. Then for breakfast the day after you have accomplished your fast see how you feel, what do you want to eat at this point? Do not give back in to your wants of eating how you used to, you should have new desires though. If you are able to continue to eat a lot more fruits and vegetables and cut down on the junk food then great! You had a very successful fast!

Also if you get more people in your household involved it helps success by a huge margin. Having emotional support from another human being is a great thing to keep you on track. Eventually you won't have a desire to return to your current lifestyle so just keep with it and know that you will have new desires when accomplished successfully.

Good Fasting Ideas

Using the once a year 7 day fasting, you could do it right after the new years. This would make a great new years resolution every year!

If you ever have weekends off like a lot of people perhaps starting your fast friday night and then going back to eating right before work would be a great idea to keep you going with your goals.

Sometimes people need help finding diets for weight loss or some weight loss stories to keep them motivated!

Hypnosis is another way that lots of people are beginning to utilize to start a new lifestyle and make their weight loss easier.
